Presentation Counts—Just Ask Galileo

Physics Magazine recently published my article Presentation Counts—Just Ask Galileo on the power of effective presentation. Here are some highlights:

  • There was no equivalent of National Science Foundation grants among the duchies of 17th century Italy, so Galileo became very savvy at presenting his work in the right way to secure patronage.
  • Times have changed, but the need to present yourself and your research in ways that speak to those you are trying to influence remains the same.
  • Improve your odds of communicating successfully by telling a compelling story with ample background information to provide context and state your takeaway message up front.

Be sure to check it out the article for the full story.
